Did you know that glass candle jars can’t be recycled? It’s true. You can Google it, but we’ll save you the hassle. Traditional glass candle jars go through a heat-treatment process that makes them more durable than regular glass. It’s the same process used for car windows and glass doors. And unfortunately, that process is exactly what prevents them from being recycled. We’ve read that some states may allow glass candle jars to be recycled, but you’ll need to check with your local transfer station to be sure.

This reality was part of the driving force behind our decision to introduce a different solution..one that eliminates those jars altogether.

Beauty in Simplicity

Beyond their inability to be recycled, we always seemed to end up with a cabinet full of old candle jars. That’s always bugged us. So when the opportunity came to be the change we wanted to see, we jumped at it. And it started with something we’ve always been around: concrete.

Its durability and natural resistance to heat make concrete a reliable medium for candle vessels. When those heat-tolerant properties are paired with a low-temperature burning wax, our vessels can be used again and again. Instead of buying an entirely new candle, you simply purchase a refill that drops right in. No waste. No mess. Good, by design.

Six months later, we’re still at it. With a growing collection of silicone molds, we spend a lot of time making vessels and stocking up for the busier months ahead. The freedom to experiment...to bring life to what’s often seen as a mundane medium...that's what makes this process so exciting. And we’ve been busy behind the scenes. Rust agents, crackling effects, and vintage finishes are just a few of the techniques we’ve been exploring.

Your Vessels

Soon, you’ll be able to purchase just the vessel, or pair it with a refill in any scent you choose. We want you to feel good about the products you buy, and we want them to feel personal. Whether it’s an earth-toned vessel, a duo-tone design, or an abstract blend of color. Your vessels. Your way. Finished with a scented refill that’s uniquely you.

A Force of Good

Supporting our small business means supporting the mission; to reduce our footprint and cut down on the number of vessels headed to landfills. But it goes beyond that. We truly believe we can make a difference, and we’re willing to bet you want to make a difference too. Be a force of good. Make good choices. And let’s work toward a better tomorrow.
